Strawberry Festival at Fern Valley Farm, May 24th

Did I mention that Izzy and I had a great time at Fern Valley Farm?  We visited again over the weekend to enjoy Farmer Larry and Ms. Linda's Strawberry Festival.  We got an up-close visit to all of the animals.  Izzy even got a kiss from the alpaca!  Later we enjoyed tasting homemade strawberry preserves, strawberry shortcake, and homemade strawberry ice cream.  Yum!  The event ended with a farmer's market where we were able to purchase and handpick our very own carrots.  Izzy loved it!  Great place!

HHS Prom 2014

When prom rolls around, everyone knows the end of the school year is near.  Underclassmen start to ask when the teachers will stop taking attendance, and seniors anxiously await graduation.  For teachers, this time is so stressful.  Planning prom, graduation, awards ceremonies, and trying to maintain some semblance of school begins to slowly take away our sanity.  Not to mention, the tested teachers are impatiently waiting their test scores.  I'm surprised that I still have hair and that it isn't completely gray!  Nevertheless, in the midst of all of the chaos, we get a night to dress up and celebrate.  Prom is an awesome event at Hampton.  Our annual trip to Meadowview Convention Center in Kingsport rarely disappoints us.  The food is always great, the DJ puts on an entertaining show, and the photo booth provides guests with unlimited memories.  Now that graduation is officially over, I'm reminded of why I am a teacher in the first place.  This graduating class is the firs

Haleigh's Two!

I just can't wait to share these any longer!  I'm still working on the images from Haleigh's session, but I had to make a post.  This little girl is absolutely adorable!  Thankfully, I got some balloons for Miss Haleigh, and boy, did she like them!  I lost count of hearing her precious version of "balloon!"  They kept her entertained long enough to get plenty of great shots.   I hope birthday number two will bring her many surprises!  Enjoy Miss Haleigh!   This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License .

Paige & Cheyenne

This photo session was fun!  I laughed more at/with these two than I've laughed in a while!  I hope they had as much fun as I did.  I've known Paige since she was just a little girl, so knowing that her high school graduation is coming up in just a matter of days doesn't make me feel any younger!  Paige has turned into a beautiful, smart young lady.  Luckily, Cheyenne noticed just how beautiful and smart she is!  Both of these kiddos are talented and a joy to have in the classroom. I'm excited to take some photos of this cute couple at prom too, so more to come from Paige and Cheyenne.  Enjoy!

Fern Valley Farm Fairy Garden Workshop

Izzy and I had the best time at Fern Valley Farm in Bristol, VA!  If you haven't visited yet, definitely put it on your list of places to go with your children.  Farmer Larry and Ms. Lynn were absolutely amazing - very friendly and welcoming - but Izzy and I were greeted first by Sarg and Buddy, loving dogs that Izzy could have saddled up!  Our first activity was to create a fairy garden.  Ms. Lynn had carefully organized all of the materials.  The kids had a great time painting, digging in dirt, placing their flowers, moss, and rocks, and choosing the perfect fairy to complete their garden. Then, we had cookies and strawberry lemonade before we met the baby chicken, miniature horses, alpaca, Miracle the lamb, and the bunny rabbits.  We had a fun-filled two hours, and we can't wait to go back! Go like Fern Valley Farm on Facebook!  They offer birthday parties, summer camps for kids ages 4-12, a farm-to-table adults only dinner, and much more!  You can also see Farmer Larry a
