HHS Prom 2014

When prom rolls around, everyone knows the end of the school year is near.  Underclassmen start to ask when the teachers will stop taking attendance, and seniors anxiously await graduation.  For teachers, this time is so stressful.  Planning prom, graduation, awards ceremonies, and trying to maintain some semblance of school begins to slowly take away our sanity.  Not to mention, the tested teachers are impatiently waiting their test scores.  I'm surprised that I still have hair and that it isn't completely gray!  Nevertheless, in the midst of all of the chaos, we get a night to dress up and celebrate.  Prom is an awesome event at Hampton.  Our annual trip to Meadowview Convention Center in Kingsport rarely disappoints us.  The food is always great, the DJ puts on an entertaining show, and the photo booth provides guests with unlimited memories.  Now that graduation is officially over, I'm reminded of why I am a teacher in the first...

The Journey...

As I was looking through some files tonight, I found this gem.  I took this photo last summer for Micah's senior portraits.  While Micah only has a few short weeks left of high school and her journey will be starting a new direction, my journey could possibly be taking the same type of course.  I'm almost finished with my Master's degree in Library Media, and I've been considering taking up more photography sessions.  Coincidentally, I feel as though my journey, the journey of the past 7+ years, might be taking a new direction.   Here's to all of those ready to make a change, whatever that change may be.  May we all have a little faith, trust, and pixie dust to help us along our way!

Micah: Class of 2014

Micah was in my English class the first semester of her junior year.  She was one of three girls in a classroom of about twenty-four.  Bless her heart!  She survived an interesting class to say the least.  Micah is a great student, and she is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  I'm honored to have taken her senior portraits, and I hope she loves them as much as I do!  Here's Miss Micah!  Enjoy!
