Caleb

You guys.  This kid. Well, I say "kid" but hearing him carry on a conversation with other people is anything but kid-like.  I was so impressed by Caleb's ability to effortlessly command attention, not in an intimidating way, but a "I've been your friend all your life" way.  This young man is blessed with a super infectious charisma that draws people in, making them instantly comfortable.  He made my job super easy. On the other hand, Caleb is still a kid getting ready to experience possibly the best time of his life. And who is by his side?  His family.  Caleb obviously understands that family is the most important support system he can have, and that family was in full force today.  BB even came from Morristown to hang out!  His entourage accompanied us throughout the entire session, and they reminded me of my own family with their easy-going attitudes and strong bonds.   Caleb's mom says they are loud and crazy, but that they love hard.  Loving har

Bree: Class of 2017

This session was a hot one, let me tell you!  ;) Bree has an infectious laugh; she's so bright and bubbly.  But guess what?  There is so much more to this girl.  Mostly every time I've seen this young lady she is smiling.  Plus, I've seen her in crutches quite a few times, too, but that's beside the point.  Knowing Bree is to know laughter and happiness; yet, she has a calmness, a seriousness, that seems to transform her into an entirely different being.  I appreciate the depth of personality this young lady has.  She's complex, intriguing, and believe it or not, a little camera shy - at least until she gets used to the camera being in her face.   Luckily, I think I caught more than just a glimpse of how incredible this young lady is. Miss Bree, wear that #30 proud!  I know I did!  ;)  And enjoy this last year in high school, even if the girls that have already moved on to the next level broke your heart.  You'll be there soon enough, sweet girl.  For now, s

Rachel #KING #KU #HappyGradDay #RADGrads

Well, here I am posting about yet another former student graduating from college. I can't say enough about sweet Rachel.  Knowing her as a 16 year old, I was impressed by her thoroughness when completing assignments.  I never had to wonder if her work would ever get submitted, and I never questioned if she had really done her best.  Rachel was the perfect student:   always striving to do better, working ahead instead of always trying to keep up, seeking opportunities to challenge herself, helping others no matter their situation. I remember she was victim to Mr. Anderson's "Gas Attack" WWI challenge; she didn't have her gas mask while cheering at a ballgame. I also remember exactly why I gave her a Dog Dollar that one time.  I know she remembers why, too!  I was so proud to see her release anger and frustration!  Sorry, folks.  That's an inside story only a few people know, but it's still one of my fondest memories with Rachel. I forgot to honor he

Jake

Being the 80's kid that I am and a die-hard brat pack fan, I can't help but think of Sixteen Candles and Samantha loves Jake Ryan.  :) I've never met this guy, but I've known his mom for awhile.  She wanted me to take some casual senior photos some time ago, but we're just now getting them done.  Thank goodness for warm, beautiful Sundays.  And wouldn't you know, this session helped me remember how much I like working with teenagers.  The world is their oyster, and that youthful excitement about the future can be totally infectious. Ok, so Jake came by himself and met me in downtown JC.  I love shooting here, by the way.  Wonderful textures and contrasts.  Anyway, having never met this kid, he talked without any awkwardness, and he entertained my ideas without question.  We walked quite a bit and it was a little chilly, but he never complained or showed any reluctancy at all.  As we talked, I learned how ambitious he is.  While he might not be 100% sure of h
