Bree: Class of 2017

This session was a hot one, let me tell you!  ;) Bree has an infectious laugh; she's so bright and bubbly.  But guess what?  There is so much more to this girl.  Mostly every time I've seen this young lady she is smiling.  Plus, I've seen her in crutches quite a few times, too, but that's beside the point.  Knowing Bree is to know laughter and happiness; yet, she has a calmness, a seriousness, that seems to transform her into an entirely different being.  I appreciate the depth of personality this young lady has.  She's complex, intriguing, and believe it or not, a little camera shy - at least until she gets used to the camera being in her face.   Luckily, I think I caught more than just a glimpse of how incredible this young lady is. Miss Bree, wear that #30 proud!  I know I did!  ;)  And enjoy this last year in high school, even if the girls that have already moved on to the next level broke your heart.  You'll be th...

Taylor: Class of 2017

Unfortunately for me, I don't know Taylor that well.  I remember her as a little girl, but because of my career change, I did not get to have this young lady in class last year.  Apparently, I missed out on a good one.  Taylor loves to read, and she brought with her some of my favorite classic authors:  Austen and the Bronte sisters.  I like this girl!   Taylor was super easy-going throughout our session, even though it started out pretty rough!  Folks, know your gate codes!  While we didn't have sunlight for our evening session, the clouds overhead gave us great lighting on their own and provided us with enough shade so that we didn't sweat to death.  Though, we were attacked by a multitude of creepy crawlies.  Oh, and we almost got a guest deer in some shots, but I suppose he didn't like my angle.   Overall, our time was well-spent.  I've had a most difficult time choosing which photos to add to this post.  Taylor h...

Graduation Is Only Days Away

Hanah and I took these photos the day she received her cap and gown.  This girl can't wait for these last few days of her last semester in high school to pass quickly .  With prom approaching, she'll have more images on here, but for now, she can revel in the idea that this chapter in her life is almost over. Hanah has had tremendous opportunities while in high school, doing everything from serving on the Carter County Youth Leadership team, attending Governor's School and Upward Bound, playing golf for four years, and most recently, winning third place in the state Future Business Leaders of America competition and being invited to the National competition in June.  She will be graduating with plenty of college credit hours already under her belt, so she can hit the ground running in the fall at ETSU.  Hanah has planned to be a pharmacist for some time now.  As far as I know, her goal is to be involved in public health, and I think Dr. Dula has finally conv...

Jake

Being the 80's kid that I am and a die-hard brat pack fan, I can't help but think of Sixteen Candles and Samantha loves Jake Ryan.  :) I've never met this guy, but I've known his mom for awhile.  She wanted me to take some casual senior photos some time ago, but we're just now getting them done.  Thank goodness for warm, beautiful Sundays.  And wouldn't you know, this session helped me remember how much I like working with teenagers.  The world is their oyster, and that youthful excitement about the future can be totally infectious. Ok, so Jake came by himself and met me in downtown JC.  I love shooting here, by the way.  Wonderful textures and contrasts.  Anyway, having never met this kid, he talked without any awkwardness, and he entertained my ideas without question.  We walked quite a bit and it was a little chilly, but he never complained or showed any reluctancy at all.  As we talked, I learned how ambitious he is.  While ...

Hanah is a senior!

Wow.  Time flies, they say, but we learn that all too quickly when kids are in our lives.  Looking back, I can remember seeing this young lady for the first time.  Unfortunately, she really wasn't as cute as she is now...with the cone head and all.  Nevertheless, she has transformed into this stunning young women who can stand her own against anybody.  She is smart, incredibly mature and responsible, driven, and as sweet as can be.  Perhaps I'm a little biased.  Oh, well.  ;) I'm so proud of you, sweet Hanah Bell.  We all are.  Have a great senior year!
